Massive Attack

What you are seeing is the cream of Auto Bavaria’s Pre-Approved crop. All three are fine examples of what a well-cherished M car should be. But, as Adlin Yusman reckons, picking a favorite is going to be the hardest task of all.

This month has been a blur to me. First, I was whisked away to Europe to sample some of AMG’s finest (read the feature somewhere in this issue). Then I returned home to spend a weekend with M division’s best examples. Like a child in a candy store, I was inexorably spoilt for choice.

If you’ve been following this magazine long enough, you would probably know that the previous E46 M3 stands as one of my all-time favorite cars. So, when I was told that the magazine was to do a feature with no less than three M cars (including the new E92 M3) I jumped at the opportunity. Seeing as these are three ‘cherished’ examples of M division’s latest and greatest wares, I wondered how it would fare against our usual staple of test routes and procedures. As any would-be sports car owner would know, buying a used performance car is a hit and miss affair. More often than not, their previous owners would’ve pummeled the cars to an inch of its life and the only reason they’re selling it is because they’re bored with it.
