Mercedes-Benz will team up with its official DTM partner, HWA AG, to co-develop and build its new super-sports car as well as several other high-end performance models. The luxury brand is reportedly disappointed by the performance of its SLR McLaren when compared against its main rivals, and this is said to be a key reason why it sought a new partner to develop its latest sports car, reports Automotive News Europe.
In steps HWA. The motorsports company was formed by Hans-Werner Aufrecht in 1967, one of the founders of AMG, and is best known for its HWA Racing team, which competes in the German touring car series with the CLK-DTM.
The new model will be a race car built for the road and is likely to be powered by a higher performance version of the hand-built 6.2L V8 engine from AMG. To make it road-legal, the car will be officially sold under the Mercedes AMG label, but it will remain a genuine HWA race-developed product. Expect to see a concept version at next year’s Geneva Motor Show.
HWA will also be investing €4.5 million to expand its manufacturing facilities, which will see its current plant extend from 1,200 to 3,600 square meters. HWA spokesman Hans Jürgen Matheis revealed to The Insider that the motorsports company always had the ambition to prove to Mercedes that it could build a better road-car than McLaren, and now it finally gets its chance.
McLaren fans shouldn’t be completely disappointed. Substantial cash flows from its successful F1 team and the freeing up of resources from this latest announcement could eventually pave the way for the development of a successor to the original McLaren F1.

Assuming you have to necessary funds to purchase the scintillating new Aston Martin DBS, that is.
Set to go into production in October, the DBS will succeed the Vanquish as Aston's Flagship car. The Vanquish, which has just stopped production will possibly make way for the newest member of the Aston family. And it'll be just as exclusive too, with only 300 cars being produced every year. The DBS is lighter (by 100kg) than the DB9 which it is based on. It'll be faster than the DB9 as well, with an estimated 524bhp V12 engine under its hood. 0-100km/h? 4.2 seconds. Top Speed? 300km/h.
Price? Nothing less than 180,000 quid. If you're thinking of being Bond, start saving now. Image courtesy of CAR UK.

End Of The Line For Zonda? |

Intersting news this. Horacio Pagani has been sending mixed signals to the foreign press. One says he's leaving the car business for good, the other is stating that he's only just begun.
By the end of this year, you'd be seeing the last of the awesome Pagani Zonda F. There are still five left up for grabs, but when they're sold, you'd be seeing the last of the Zondas. There are rumours that Pagani will continue to build track focused Zondas, but for the road going variants, you'd be hard pressed to see any more.
The new track car is expected to produce around 700bhp, with a stripped out cabin and a top speed of around 340km/h. Oh, and a seriously limited production run.
But according to Car & Driver, Pagani is introducing something else entirely. After the Zonda C8, Pagani plans on introducing the C9, an entirely new supercar not based on the current Zonda. The C9 will benefit from the next-generation Mercedes V-12 that will sport four-valve heads and increase horsepower and torque. "The new engine could reach 885 pound-feet of torque, but we already have wheelspin on a dry road with 553 pound-feet, so why?" asked Horatio Pagani with a straight face. "Our target for the new engine is 627 pound-feet, in conjunction with a complicated new Bosch traction-control system." The C9 will be longer in wheelbase and overall length; unfortunately, it will also grow in width over the current car's staggering 81 inches.
From the sketches we've seen, the C9 is sleeker and cleaner than the Zonda. Active aerodynamics are built into the upper body in the nose and tail, rather than via the exposed wings of the previous car. A smooth underbody has a built-in diffuser to manage the airflow around the outer skin of carbon-fiber composite. Pagani's trademark four-taillight front and four-tailpipe rear are present.

Kuala Lumpur, June 21, 2007: Euromobil Sdn. Bhd., the distributors of Audi in Malaysia today unveiled the new Audi TT Coupé at the Audi Hangar in Glenmarie. This is a cult car, an icon – right from the day it made its debut, in autumn 1998, the Audi TT took the sports coupe segment by storm, sharpening up the brand’s profile in the process. Now the second generation of this successful model is making its debut. The launch of the 2007 TT Coupé follows months of intent anticipation by car enthusiasts in Malaysia. Judging from first impression, the new Audi TT Coupe is all set to take the Malaysian sports car segment by storm. The new TT, like its predecessor will initially be available as a 2+2 seater coupé with a roadster model to be launched on a later date. On the road price of the new Audi TT Coupé has been set at RM368,000.00
First Impressions: Decent car, dissapointing specs and a pricey sticker price. The Gallardo inspired wheel feels good in your hands, even the plastics have been moulded in a finish that won't look out of place in a car twice its price. The original TT didn't have much in terms of competition here in Malaysia, but now it does. With BMW's spankingly awesome 325i coupe costing RM336,773 - with more power and a better equipment list - we'd suggest you give that a try instead. In spite of all that, Euromobil has still managed to move 20 cars. It takes four to five months to build a TT, so if you're interested, we suggest you get your motor started and head to your nearest Audi dealer. Besides, buying a car is still an emotional move. So if you're moved by the TT, buy it.

Finally, the Renault that's been seen loitering around our highways and byways have been unmasked. Granted, it's not the most radical car Renault has ever produced, but it does usher in some interesting developments from La Régie, as it chases down the new Ford Mondeo and forthcoming Vauxhall Vectra.
For starters, the Laguna is lighter than the model it replaces; despite being longer, wider and taller, it's an average 15kg skinnier across the range, which should boost performance, economy and emissions. The new Laguna spearheads a new push to make Renaults better known for quality and eco credentials. Press 'Read More' to find out why.
